EOS Calibration Program

Measurement Assurance Program (MAP)

A key component of the EOS Calibration Program is the Measurement Assurance Program (MAP) operated by the EOS Project Science Office with support from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). According to NIST, a MAP is a group of activities designed to critically evaluate the accuracy of a group of measurements. When implemented by NIST, it is a quality control procedure designed to calibrate a customer's entire measurement system. The EOS Project Science Office and NIST have successfully applied the concept of the MAP to the calibration of EOS satellite, ground-based and airborne instruments.
