EOS Calibration Program

Workshops and Training

Over the lifetime of the EOS mission, the performance of various sources and radiometers used in the calibration and vicarious calibration of EOS instruments must be evaluated by the instrument owners/operators. In addition, the measurement techniques and practices used by the instrument owners/operators must be evaluated. As appropriate, the EOS Calibration program, with the help of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), institutes workshop and training activities to complement the measurement comparisons. Workshop activities have included presentations of instrument calibration and characterization, demonstrations of good radiometric/calibration technique, comparisons with actual field radiometers, and reviews of specific EOS calibration/validation efforts.
