The Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission is an international partnership co-led by NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The mission centers on the deployment of the GPM Core Observatory and consists of a network, or constellation, of additional satellites that together will provide the next-generation global observations of precipitation from space. The GPM Core Observatory will launch from the Tanegashima Space Center in Tanegashima, Japan aboard a JAXA H-IIA rocket in early 2014.
A pre-launch brochure about the GPM Core Observatory is available online at eospso.gsfc.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/publications/GPMmissionBrochure_508_sm.pdf.
